We are all having a great time in sunny Dublin catching up with old friends and colleagues. The atmosphere is really good and there seems to be great engagement with the science. Grace and I attended the Endocrine Disrupter training session on Sunday where a small group of academics, industry partners, regulators, and consultants met to discuss data interpretation in the context of pesticide endocrine disruptor assessments as well as working through case studies. It was a great event for sharing ideas and I presented some considerations on how to interpret data on vitellogenin responses in fish. Other discussion points included estimating the Maximum Tolerated Concentration for testing in in vivo mechanistic studies with fish and amphibians, and the benefits of an extended Amphibian Metamorphosis Assay (eAMA). I am looking forward to presenting the main findings from a review on vitellogenin in fish in the endocrine session of the main meeting on Wednesday 4th May at 11:20. Rhiannon will also be presenting her poster on ECHA’s proposals for ED testing under REACH on Wednesday.
wca have already been active in the main conference with Iain’s poster on whether the 95th percentile risk quotient of a substance in surface waters represents a country wide risk creating lots of interest at poster corner. Iain will be presenting a short talk at the Metals Interest Group tonight on the M-BAT tool.
There are seven of us at SETAC this year. Please pop along to Booth 60 and say hello,
