wca have developed a screening tool for the assessment of site-specific PNECs for Lead (Pb) and it can be freely downloaded.
The screening tool is to be used as part of tiered risk assessment or as an early tier in an EQS compliance assessment and designed to give an initial assessment of risks associated with Pb in a freshwater environment.
The only required input parameter is DOC, however, if site monitoring data for Pb concentrations in filtered samples is available and submitted the local risk characterisation ratio (RCR) for the site will also be calculated. The tool is calibrated for the DOC range of 1 to 20 mg/L; for values out-with this range the lower or upper boundary will be used for calculation of the result.
