David Taylor, PhD is an environmental chemist with 45 years experience of the evaluation, management and resolution of environmental issues in the heavy chemical, specialty chemical, agrochemical and pharmaceutical industries.

A Chartered Chemist, he is a Fellow of the Institute of Water and Environmental Management and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry where he is chair of the Environmental, Safety & Health Policy Group and sits as the RSC representative on the UK Chemical Stakeholders Forum. He has served on, and chaired a wide range of industry, regulatory, government and professional committees, including the CBI Environmental Affairs Committee, CBI Chemicals Working Group (Chair), EFPIA Environmental Health & Safety Committee (Chair), Estuarine and Water Sciences Association Council, DEFRA Standing Committee of Analysts.

Until June 2008 he was the Global Director of Environment & Sustainability for the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, where he was responsible, amongst other things, for the direction of the company research programme in environmental science.

David has particular expertise in strategic policy analysis; implementation of environmental regulations; setting Environmental Quality Standards for water; Direct Toxicity Assessment of discharges to surface waters and all aspects of the interaction of pharmaceuticals with the environment.
