Last week, Rhiannon and I attended the Employee Ownership Association’s Midlands Regional Network meeting hosted by Scott Bader. At wca we are proud to be part of an employee-owned company and were keen to learn more about how other companies are approaching employee-ownership. The meeting was attended by those from well-established companies that have been employee-owned for decades as well as those just starting to look into the prospect of employee-ownership. This provided a range of perspectives and approaches – there is no ‘one size fits all’ model for employee-ownership and the route followed depends on the goals and aims of each individual company. wca has been employee-owned since 2012, and we believe that this structure allows everyone to feel as though they have a stake in the business and that what they do matters, as well as providing stability for the company in future years. In turn this benefits our clients, who know that they are dealing with people who are committed and invested in the work that we do. The meeting allowed us to learn from the knowledge of others and discuss the benefits and challenges of employee-ownership, and we hope to build on this as we continue to develop our own individual approach to employee-ownership.
